Inside the Eduforce Training Centre at Vasind

Practical safety training needs somewhere to practise. A look at the Eduforce working-at-height and confined-space simulator on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway, and how programmes run there.

Most of what this Safety Knowledge Hub describes — inspecting a harness, entering a confined space, rescuing a colleague, putting out a fire — can be explained in a classroom but can only be learned by doing it. That is what the Eduforce training centre at Vasind is for.

Where it is

The centre sits on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway at Vasind, in Thane district, opposite the JSW factory. Eduforce's company profile describes it as the company's "knowledge bank": the place where the training scenarios are built and rehearsed before they go out to client sites.

The simulator

The heart of the centre is a multi-equipped working-at-height and confined-space training simulator, described in Eduforce's company documents as Asia's tallest:

  • A tower of 45 feet, so climbing, fall arrest, positioning and rescue from height are practised at a scale that matches real structures rather than a step ladder
  • Purpose-designed confined spaces at 25 feet, so vertical entry, atmospheric testing, tripod-and-winch retrieval and casualty extraction are practised with the geometry of a real tank or manhole
  • High towers, chimneys and scaffolds for hands-on experience of different structures
  • Education on the range of industrial confined spaces — tanks, boilers and tunnels
  • Infrastructure for rescue at height and in confined space, which Eduforce describes as its chief domain and expertise
  • Primary Emergency Care and First Aid Training provision, so the medical side of a rescue is rehearsed alongside the technical side

How programmes run

Programmes at the centre are built on the guidelines of the Factories Act, the BOCW Act, OSHA and established working-at-height practice, and they are practical from the first hour. A typical working-at-height day moves from equipment inspection on the ground to climbing on the tower to a rescue of a suspended colleague; a confined-space day moves from gas testing at the hatch to entry, work and a casualty extraction with the winch.

Medical support and first aid are available on site throughout training. Trainers are internationally certified, each with 10–15 years of practical training experience, and the emphasis — in Eduforce's own words — is on interactive learning with a sense of completeness and liveliness.

Training residentially

Teams from outside the region train residentially. The centre provides on-campus accommodation with air conditioning and television in every room, breakfast, vegetarian and non-vegetarian lunch and dinner, high tea, study material and certification — and one complimentary day of water sports and games, which participants tend to remember.

Training on your site

Not every programme needs the tower. Eduforce's on-site demonstration and trainer team delivers programmes at the client's own site, on the client's own structures and equipment, which for many topics — permits, PPE, behaviour based safety, first aid — is the more relevant environment.

Seeing it

The Training Centre page carries the specifications and facilities in full, and the Gallery shows the tower, the confined-space module and the classrooms in use. To arrange a programme at Vasind or on your site, enquire or talk to the team.
