Sedentary Work Is a Workplace Hazard Too
Ergonomic risk does not only show up in lifting and handling. Long static sitting produces its own injuries, and it responds to the same assessment discipline.

Ergonomics addresses the everyday postures, movements and workstation layouts that produce musculoskeletal injury over time.
Musculoskeletal injuries rarely come from one event. They build up from postures, forces, repetition and duration, in lifting and handling tasks and equally in seated work, where a position held for hours is a load in its own right.
The programme teaches people to assess the whole task rather than a single piece of equipment, and to report discomfort early. A problem mentioned in the first weeks is usually fixed by an adjustment; the same problem raised months later may mean treatment and lost time.
