The Module

Training overview

The Offshore module extends limited access to offshore assets, adding practical sea survival and vessel transfer. It must be combined with the onshore module as a single day of training and cannot be taken alone.

This module forms part of GWO Wind Limited Access (WLA) Training.

What this module covers

  • Injury prevention measures for the offshore environment
  • Practical sea survival — HELP posture, immersion response and survival technique
  • Safe travel and transfer — boarding, disembarking and accommodating vessel motion
  • Transfer practical exercises

Practical training

  • Sea survival drills including HELP posture and immersion response
  • Transfer exercises from vessel to offshore structure

Competencies

  • Behave so as to present no hazard to yourself or others during transfers and visits to functioning assets when supervised
  • Demonstrate sea survival competencies
  • Carry out safe offshore transfer procedures

Safety and risk awareness

  • The module does not prepare participants for supervised visits to assets with increased safety risks, such as faulty turbines or those under construction
  • Supervision by at least two experienced GWO BST trained persons is required
