The Module

Training overview

The most extensive of the three modules, SLIIR incorporates all Inspection and Maintenance content and adds installation, major component replacement, structural and electrical repair, commissioning and fault diagnosis.

This module forms part of GWO Service Lift Training.

• Installation compliance requirements and repair authorisation documentation
• Assembly sequence, component installation verification, alignment and fitting
• Major component replacement and structural repair
• Electrical system repairs
• Commissioning — bringing new equipment into working condition and validating it through first-time inspection
• Troubleshooting using a manufacturer's error and response list
• All inspection and maintenance topics, covered at greater depth

Practical training

• Hands-on installation, repair and testing of lift components
• Operation panel installation and programming
• Fall arrest device installation and testing
• Cable installation and routing
• Emergency descent and overspeed testing

Competencies

• Perform installation and repair work safely
• Complete commissioning and validate through first-time inspection
• Conduct inspections and maintain lifts using proper procedures
• Trace and correct faults in mechanical or electrical systems

Safety and risk awareness

• Installation fall hazards and confined space work
• Electrical shock during installation and commissioning
• Component weight and load hazards, and tool-related injuries
